Photo By: Flo Gardipee The principal goal of the Montana - Ecology of Infectious Disease (M-EID) program is to produce graduates with expertise to lead the collaborative, cross-, and inter-disciplinary efforts in education and research needed to address complex problems as exemplified by the ecology of endemic, epidemic and emergent infectious diseases. To achieve this goal, we will focus on three major components:
Interdisciplinary training in mathematics, computation, and biology
- Focal, relevant interdisciplinary research topics identified
- Integrated Core Curriculum, Seminars, Scholars-in-Residence, and Summer Institutes
- Advisors from different disciplines to supervise research projects
Training in establishing productive collaborations, team building, and effective communication
- Required teaching, communications, and writing courses, interactive seminars, and internships
- Common space for Trainees to provide an interactive environment amenable to continual exchange of ideas
Professional development and career enhancement
- Curriculum integrates tangible examples of career alternatives that cross research disciplines
- Sponsored internships in various career settings, professional network development through seminar series, Scholars-in-Residence program, national and international symposia. « Potential internships »
